April 2023

During our 8th grade class trip to Washington, DC, members of the class participated in a wreath-laying ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Solider in Arlington National Cemetery.

Senior Citizen & Grandparent Breakfast

As part of Community Day, district senior citizens and grandparents of our students are invited to breakfast on Friday, April 28! We'll begin serving breakfast at 8:30am followed by activities for our guests. We ask that attendees make a reservation through April Sybert (sybert@cory-rawson.org or 419-963-3415 ext. 1100) by April 20.

Income Tax Renewal
Cory-Rawson Local School District residents will see a renewal of the .75% income tax on the primary/special election ballot May 2, 2023. This tax was first approved in 2003 and is renewed every five years by voters.
This income tax accounted for approximately 10% of the district’s revenue in fiscal year 2022 and is used for general fund expenses such as supplies, utilities, salaries, and benefits. We’re always looking for ways to control costs including renegotiated agreements with a number of vendors. We continue to seek non-tax revenue in a few different ways including grants. In fact, our staff has secured $319,000 in grant funding so far this school year, which will allow for additional student and staff learning, safety upgrades, and expanded opportunities.
Click here for other details on the income tax renewal or contact Jay Clark (superintendent) at clark@cory-rawson.org or Sheila Hausknecht (treasurer) at hausknecht@cory-rawson.org

(Forms are located on the athletic department website and in the high school office) Bring all completed forms with you on the 16th. Checks can be made payable to Cory-Rawson Schools.

Notes from our Nurse
I am Jennifer Jamison, the nurse at Cory-Rawson. I am honored to work with the C-R students and staff. I wanted to let you know that we are seeing several cases of strep throat and stomach viruses in school during this time. If your child complains of a sore throat especially when swallowing or complains of stomach pain or nausea, consider keeping them home. Feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns. See additional health information regarding when to stay home, strep throat, pink eye, and lice here.

YMCA Child Development Center at Cory-Rawson coming Fall 2023
The Cory-Rawson Local School District and the Findlay Family YMCA are excited to announce the opening of the YMCA Child Development Center at Cory-Rawson. The center will provide child care services year-round to infants through school-aged children on the Cory-Rawson campus.
Initial plans are for the YMCA Child Development Center at Cory-Rawson to open in Fall 2023. The school district, working with the Cory-Rawson Education Association, was awarded an American Federation of Teachers Innovation Fund grant to propel Cory-Rawson’s community hub vision and provide for facilities changes needed for the child care space.
