Saddle Up and Read!
Saddle Up and Read is the theme of 2023 Right to Read Week (March 3-10).
Literacy night will be held on Wednesday, March 8 from 4:30-6:30 p.m. Pizza, chips, cookies and a beverage will be provided to those who RSVP. RSVP to Jenni Wilson (wilson@cory-rawson.org). The Hancock County Public Library will provide games and have a library card sign up.
The book fair will be open in the library beginning Saturday March 4th from 9-12 and each day throughout the week until 4 p.m. and on Literacy night until 6:30 p.m. Proceeds from the book fair support our school library.
Right to Read week will feature guest readers throughout the week, an afternoon movie, reading rewards for students, a coloring contest and student dress up days. They are as follows:
- Monday: Read a Shirt Day
- Tuesday: Hats off for Reading! Wear your favorite hat
- Wednesday: Boot Scootin Boogie Day, Wear your favorite boots
- Thursday: Wild about Reading Day, Wear any animal print or animal shirt
- Friday: Toy Story Day, Dress like Woody or Jessie from Toy Story
Our school cafeteria will feature a western themed menu for the week.

Athletics Updates
OHSAA Winter Sports Tournament Information: Boys and girls basketball and wrestling will begin OHSAA Tournament action in the coming days/weeks. The girls basketball team earned the #4 seed in the Van Wert district and will play the winner of #5 Ottville and #6 Miller City on Feb. 18, 2023 at 7:30 PM at Van Wert High School. The boys basketball team earned the #8 seed in the Elida district and will play #9 Continental on Feb. 22, 2023 at Bluffton University at 7:30 PM. Wrestling begins sectional action on February 25, 2023 at Van Buren High School at 10 AM. All tickets for all OHSAA events must be purchased online at ohsaa.org/tickets
Newest Head Coaches: Please welcome our newest head coaches as we enter the spring athletic seasons. Chad Sons (baseball), Mariah Diller (softball) and Mike and Brenda Terrian (track & field) take over their programs for the first time this spring. We are glad to have each of them at Cory-Rawson!
Spring Sports: Spring sports officially get underway on February 20, 2023. Spring coaches will begin sending out practice schedules and game/meet schedules for student-athletes. If you're interested in participating in a spring sport this year, please contact Mr. Scott at scott@cory-rawson.org
