Gathering as a school community this brisk, but sunny October morning, the dedication of Mrs. Wagner's Reading Tree was a special way to wrap up this memorial project. We appreciate the generosity of so many students, staff, and community members in the creation of this special outdoor learning space to remember Mrs. Wagner, a teacher here at Cory-Rawson who lost her battle with breast cancer in 2021.
We've had a few questions about the school Veteran's Day program. This has traditionally been done on a biennial basis here at Cory-Rawson. As it stands, we will continue this every-other year, but also recognize the impact the event has for both our students and staff and our community veterans. We will certainly celebrate Veteran's Day as individual classrooms on these "off years". Look for more information in the fall of 2023, the next time we'll have a schoolwide program.
Parent-teacher conferences will be here before we know it! The connection of home and school is essential to student achievement. Parent-teacher conferences are scheduled for the evenings of November 15 and 16. Look for emails from each of our buildings for more details soon.
In our hearts, the Green and Gold,
Jay Clark, Superintendent
23rd Annual Cory-Rawson Athletic Boosters Reverse Raffle
The Cory-Rawson Athletic Boosters are hosting their 23rd annual reverse raffle at The Centre in Bluffton this year on Nov. 12, 2022 @ 6:30 PM. This event is the single biggest fundraiser for the year for the Athletic Boosters and allows the booster club to provide many opportunities for Cory-Rawson student-athletes.
Recently, the Athletic Boosters have provided funding for team camps in the summer for all of our sports, purchased new weight room equipment for our student-athletes, replaced the Welcome to Hornet Country sign at the soccer field, funded the weight room renaming project, purchased Senior Banners, helped purchase uniforms for all of our athletics programs, and funded HUDL/Veo accounts for all of our athletics programs. The Athletic Boosters are also preparing for future projects that include purchasing a new basketball scorers table and updating the football and Hive Gym sound systems, among other things.
Please consider joining us on Nov. 12 for an evening filled with fun, friends, and community. Tickets are $100 for the evening, which includes a meal and drinks for the evening. There are 18 monetary prizes, with the grand prize winner taking home $5,000 (you don't need to be present to win)! If you need a ticket, please contact an Athletic Booster member (Shelby Bacon, Dee Niese, Dan Ludwig, Lori Vekaryasz) or Athletic Director Caleb Scott. Thank you for supporting our student-athletes!
