September 2022

2022-2023 Cory-Rawson Local Schools Staff

We have so much to celebrate at Cory-Rawson as we begin the 2022-2023 school year!

Summer provided the opportunity to complete important facilities updates and repairs.  Our teaching and administrative staff focused on growth as we participated in professional development over the summer months.  We had a record number of elementary students participate in our summer academy to explore creative writing, world cultures, and STEAM (science, technology, engineering, the arts, and mathematics) while high school students earned a total of 16 credits during the secondary summer program.  Two of our teachers are semifinalists for the Findlay Rotary Club's Golden Apple Award; for the fifth year, our Girls Soccer team was awarded a United Soccer Coaches Team Academic Award; four CRHS students were selected to participate in Hancock Youth Leadership; a large number of students (and alumni) were successful in their efforts at the county fair including junior fair king Jacob Miles, Lamb and Wool Queen Megan Inbody and Goat Princess McKenna Huber; and, we proudly dedicated our weight room to memorialize Dominic Francis.

Arriving in your mailbox soon is The Voice, which provides our 2021-22 annual report highlighting progress on our strategic plan.  Working together with our community, our district made great progress and we look forward to even bigger wins over the next year.  It's a great time to be a Hornet!

Reading Tree Dedication Set

Thank you so much to all that have contributed to Mrs. Wagner's Reading Tree. Your support in Mrs. Wagner's memory means so much to her family, friends, students and coworkers. The Reading Tree is almost complete!
The community is invited to the school on Friday, October 14th at 9:00 am when we will be dedicating this area to Mrs. Wagner's memory. Our staff and students will gather outside around the tree which is located behind the elementary wing, across from the playground on the west side of the school. After the dedication staff and students will be taking turns throughout the day reading around the tree to honor Mrs. Wagner's love of reading.

CRES Collecting Tabs and Caps

Thank you for your past and continued support of our recycling projects. Beverage can tabs and plastic bottle caps can be sent to school with students at any time. Beverage can tabs can be taken to Mrs. Wilson's classroom and bottle caps can be placed in the black container outside of the elementary office. Our tabs benefit Ronald McDonald House and the caps go to a local 4H group to make into benches.

Below is bottle cap information...
ACCEPTED CAPS: Small caps from food grade containers, household items. Snap-on (butter tub, coffee can, yogurt lids), small twist-off (medicine, drink bottle, milk caps), large twist (detergent caps), spout (squirt condiment caps), flip top (ketchup caps etc.)
NOT ACCEPTABLE CAPS: Any cap with metal pumps with metal spring inside - as on lotions, fast-food drink caps, lids or caps over 8" in diameter, or medical supplies
